Running Non-Stop

If you find you’re A/C is running non-stop or kicking on far more often than it used to you may have a problem. Electrical Issues

Your home’s air conditioner can be more vulnerable to electrical issues in the Summer as they are not only handling an increased workload after, likely, an entire 6 months or more off, but is often subject to excessive heat and exposure to the sun. One or both of these factors can lead to a failed capacitator, one of the most common service call issues. It’s also important to take note and be careful when digging or weed whacking around or near the condenser unit.

Poor Air Flow

Poor air flow can be due to a few different causes including a dirty filter. We could never stress enough how important it is to replace your furnace filter often and have your vents cleaned at least yearly! That build up in your ducting can not only lead to excessive dirt, dust, and allergens in your home. But it can also ruin your HVAC system! Air flow can also be restricted by vegetation, debris or lawn items around the condenser. If you have to hide your condenser unit for your HOA that you leave at least one side exposed. Don’t forget to check and maintenance this area with your weekly lawn chores either. It’s always a good idea to clean off your condenser after the Winter. You can easily do this with your water hose after turning the power to the unit.

Thermostat Problems

Your thermostat can cause big problems for your system if it isn’t working properly or dies. Be sure to set a reminder to change your batteries every six to eight months. Upgrading to a smart thermostat can not only help you keep your home comfortable but also allow you to save money while keeping your home just the right temperature when you’re home. If your thermostat is near a main door it might be a good idea to put a proper covering over the thermostat. This will help reduce drafts from kicking the unit on every time you open the door!

Condenser Failure

An air conditioning condenser can die if not properly maintenance over time. Be sure to always get regular maintenance and call at the first sign of trouble to prevent any unforeseen problems. However, your furnace and air conditioner have a life span and will eventually need replacement. That time frame for a high efficiency regularly taken care of system is 10-15 years. When that time comes we will be here to help you make the best choice for your home. Until then, we have the BASC service plan system check to keep your current system running efficiently for as long as possible.
